Thruster Maintenance & Retrofit
Thruster is absolutely essential equipment for vessel when incoming and departing from shore.
If the thruster become unusable, it will cause a considerable cost to the ship owners by arranging an additional tugboats and labors until the thruster to be repaired.
For the safety use of thruster and to extend the thruster’s life to its full potential, we suggest the ship owners to review the importance of regular maintenance and to plan it during the D/dock period.

Inspection
- Check for gear tooth surface.
- Measure dimensions at each sliding location and check for wearing condition.

Thruster overhaul job types
Replace Thruster (prepare new assembled thruster by owner’s order – MSC, OOCL, Hoegh-wallem, Namsung)
In case of limited D/Dock and emergency situation, Owner can reduce the expense to the minimum by curtailing the period of thruster overhaul.
The risk can be prevented for short term work because overhaul will be carried out successfully at KTE shop.
The thruster controller should be replaced to new controller (KT-ITCS) when she carry out the 10years regular thruster overhaul work.

Thruster controller retrofit work
We kindly recommend the thruster controller should be retrofitted work from KT-TCS to KT-ITCS at 10 year regular thruster overhaul wok for stability operation and prevent trouble on thruster controller system.
Because the old controller (KT-TCS ) do not produce any more due to limited life time of electronic devices of PLC board .
